Today I’m starting a new Saturday series for the month of January called The Binge List where each Saturday I am going to share a movie or tv show that’s on Netflix that I think everyone should watch. So if you are looking for something new to watch on Netflix as you avoid doing your homework this semester then I’m here to help!
For the first one on the list I had to go with one of my favorite movies, Roman Holiday. I absolutely adore Audrey Hepburn movies and this one is my favorite of hers, followed closely by Charade and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The romance story in this movie just seems a lot more realistic to me (even though it is of course a cheesy love story) than movies nowadays and the ending is a really good one, but don’t worry I won’t spoil it for you. I loved watching Audrey’s character fall in love with Gregory Peck’s character, while also seeing Gregory’s character’s conflict over choosing love or his career, and of course seeing everything take place in Rome.
The fact that Roman Holiday is a black and white movie also helps make it top my list. I’m probably one of the only people that isn’t a grandma or grandpa that loves black and white movies. I don’t know really know why, but I feel like there’s just something special about black and white that color films just don’t have. I’m also not just talking about movies that only had the choice to do black and white, I’m a huge fan when recently made films make the decision to do black and white if it fits. For example, Nebraska was perfect in black and white.
So basically, if you are in the mood for a good romance story while cuddled in your bed then you need to watch this. You also get to watch the flawlessness that is Audrey Hepburn for 2 hours so you really can’t go wrong with watching Roman Holiday.
What’s on your binge list?
